Andre,

Fantastic article. Very articulate. However, I'm having a trouble that is not addressed in your footstep-past-step guide.

I successfully get to the stride right before the OOBE. My PC boots once more but goes dorsum to the DVD which is notwithstanding inserted. And then, I get the prompt to Press any cardinal to reboot from CD or DVD. Doing and then gets me dorsum to the setup on the DVD for another install. Not hitting any primal causes my PC to simply stop.

Is the media supposed to be removed prior to this concluding reboot?

Dennis

[UPDATE] Success. By a combination of doing a PC Cleanup then removing the DVD just later on the final setup step, I'm able to boot into the Tech Preview and end setting up accounts, etc. I'm up and running now.

Strange, what is your default boot device in the BIOS, hard disk drive or DVD?

Try making your hard deejay be the default boot device in the BIOS and see if allows you lot to boot into Windows ten without going into setup again.

I'm non sure what you mean past "default boot device". My boot lodge is DVD then hard drive. If I make the difficult bulldoze first then I cannot boot from the DVD to go the install started.

The hard drive had an sometime Windows 8.0 organization on information technology. When I tried to install a agglomeration of updates, I could no longer boot from the difficult bulldoze. That'south when I decided to just scrap 8.0 and try Win ten.

Only I'm not certain that's my problem. If I pull the DVD and endeavor to boot off the hard drive I get this mistake, in plain text on a black background:

A disk read error occurred

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart

When I do that, I go the same thing again.

If y'all are in the OOBE for Windows 10, why would you need to be booting from the Windows 10 install media once again except for installing Windows 10 over again?

What you said:

I successfully become to the step right before the OOBE.

This is right earlier the OOBE:

When this stage of setup is complete, Windows will automatically restart and reboot into setup again.

Which means, all necessary files would take already been copied from the disc to facilitate the installation.

Do y'all have more than than one hard disk installed in your figurer?

Do y'all have external storage devices attached to the arrangement?

If you lot practise, disconnect them before running setup.

Andre, I'1000 not in the OOBE. Equally I said, and you lot quoted, I'm in the pace before where I run into the "Windows needs to restart .." message. Simply because my DVD player is first in line in my BIOS, instead of booting to my hard drive which at present has the Tech Preview on it, the PC boots dorsum to the DVD with the install ISO on it.

Just, as I said in the update to my starting time postal service above, I was able to pull the DVD in time so my PC booted to the hard drive. I now have the Tech Preview running.

Thanks for the article and your help.

Thanks for writing this up.  Disappointed to hear that I cannot employ the upgrade to do a make clean install initially.  Hope that changes, but probably won't hold my breath..  ;-)

Well, I have a question:

I did the complimentary upgrade of my Windows 7 and now desire to reinstall Windows ten using a make clean install. I'm a fleck anxious from nature and so I first looked upwardly whether my installation of Win10 is activated and which product key is used.

And that's the strange part:

When I utilize the MGADiag.exe tool to check genuinity of the installation it shows me a key that ends exactly like the Windows 10Insider Preview Key. More curious:

Using a 'key extractor vb-script':

Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Vanquish") MsgBox ConvertToKey(WshShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\DigitalProductId")) Function ConvertToKey(Key) Const KeyOffset = 52 i = 28 Chars = "BCDFGHJKMPQRTVWXY2346789" Do Cur = 0 x = 14 Practice Cur = Cur * 256 Cur = Key(x + KeyOffset) + Cur Key(ten + KeyOffset) = (Cur \ 24) And 255 Cur = Cur Mod 24 x = x -1 Loop While 10 >= 0 i = i -1 KeyOutput = Mid(Chars, Cur + 1, 1) & KeyOutput If (((29 - i) Mod half-dozen) = 0) And (i <> -i) And so i = i -1 KeyOutput = "-" & KeyOutput Cease If Loop While i >= 0 ConvertToKey = KeyOutput End Function

I got even another fundamental which is neither my Win7 key nor the Insider Preview key.

[Update]I at present upgraded a second Windows7 license also and it has the same central when extracted, seems to be generic[/Update]

What primal should I put in when I'1000 prompted to activate Windows 10 after the clean install?

I DID NOT use a Microsoft Account - and I won't exist persued to exercise and so.

Instead of publishing a new article, how about answering the questions?

Afaik:

When I upgrade to Win10 my Hardware-Setup is recorded in a MS DB and connected with a free license for Win10.

What, when my hardware changes? Yes in that location's much information nearly that only only from tertiary-party. Do I demand to do the upgrade over again? What if my hardware changes Later on the i yr after the release? Do I nevertheless get the free upgrade? If not, can I at least utilize my 'sometime' Windows which I before used to upgrade to Win10 or is the license non valid anymore (y'all say one can only 'go dorsum' 30days lonng).

How'southward all that with Germany: Here a hardware-change afaik cannot 'invalidate' the license. So: Practice *nosotros* get Win10 for gratis on all devices?

All questions not have been answered by MS Officials.

This, well, is quite sh*t.
